You are showing consideration for your invitees by allowing them enough time to set aside the date and shop for an appropriate gift. Generous lead time also allows you opportunity to invite alternate guests if some initial invitees are unable to attend. Send the invitations out no later than two to three weeks before the shower date. Four to six weeks before the shower date would be better, particularly considering how busy the schedules of most people, especially parents, are these days. If many of your invitees are young parents themselves, the shower will be competing with sporting events, play dates and family obligations.
